Since 2003, UNICEF has been hosting an annual humanitarian initiative, called "frimousses de créateurs", where renowned fashion houses, artists and designers present their talented creations for Darfur's children.
This year, 42 fashion designers are taking part in UNICEF’s designer dolls initiative. Alexis Mabille and Anne Valérie Hash are among first-timers, joining fashion houses including Chanel, Dior and Lanvin.
A total of 93 pieces are being conceived. The dolls are going to be on show at the Petit Palais from November 26 to December 1 and then go under the hammer during an auction on December 2 at the Four Seasons Hotel Georges V.
Last year, the reserve price for each little toy was 500 euros. UNICEF is to distribute funds raised from the sale to help vaccinate children in Sudan’s Darfur region.
